The Flemish Government Architect: Pilot Project Integrated Care

Innovative Health Architecture

By 2050, the population of Flanders will grow with 1.2 million people, meaning 300.000 extra housing units for the elderly. The Flemish Government Architect and the Flemish Minister of Welfare invited healthcare providers to start building innovative healthcare architecture. The Flemish Government architect invited five interdisciplinary design teams who came up with new models for the future. These pilot-projects, effectively implemented since 2014, will give care its natural position within the urban fabric. In this session, the design teams will present their successful project approach.
